Liverpool reporter Paul Gorst has suggested that the midfield trio for Liverpool next season could well be Jordan Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho on a regular basis.
Gini Wijnaldum is a player that is going to be missed, naturally, given how reliable he was both in terms of consistent performances and simply always being fit enough for selection.
Indeed, Liverpool have a handful of midfielders that could do with his level of fitness and that is why several new players are being linked with a move to Anfield to try and replace him.
We do have good options at the club already, though, and Liverpool could look to use Henderson, Thiago and Fabinho most next year according to Gorst.
He said via the Echo:
“Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain won’t get near the 51 games Gini Wijnaldum played last year. We’ll definitely see Fabinho, Henderson and Thiago more regularly as a midfield trio next season.”
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
It certainly seems likely that this will be the midfield three at least to start with.
The Reds have got some top pros available to them in the middle of the park, even without Wijnaldum around now, and we just need to make sure we’ve got the right amount of depth for when injuries once again rear their head next year.
