Liverpool are “watching” Marseille centre-back Boubacar Kamara, according to French outlet Le 10 Sport.
The report states that Liverpool would like to sign Napoli centre-back Kalidou Koulibaly. However, the report adds that Manchester City’s interest in the player will make it difficult for the Reds to sign him.
Liverpool reportedly view Kamara as a potential alternative to Koulibaly.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
The 20-year-old played quite a bit of football for Marseille this season. Kamara finished the Ligue 1 campaign having played 24 matches. He scored one goal and registered two assists.
If Liverpool did sign Kamara, it would be not be the worst move. He has senior experience and he is only 20 years of age.
Kamara’s career is only starting. Liverpool would be buying a centre-back that has a future.
Kamara’s current market value is €27 million. Koulibaly’s current market value is €56 million. However, apparently Napoli want £90 million for Koulibaly.
The aforementioned numbers do highlight that Kamara would cost Liverpool less. If Liverpool do sign Kamara, he would get to train alongside Virgil van Dijk, who was the runner-up for Ballon d’Or last season.
Kamara could learn a bit off the Dutchman.
