Liverpool are reportedly ready to make an offer of €30m to sign Udinese central midfielder Rodrigo de Paul at the end of the season.

According to Tutto Udinese, as transcribed by Sport Witness, Liverpool are interested in signing the Argentine midfielder and are preparing to make their move, whilst Inter Milan are set to challenge them for his signature.

The report claims that Udinese are looking for at least €40m for de Paul, but there is a belief that a compromise could be made between the two figures.

If this article is accurate and Liverpool are looking to make a bid of €30m for de Paul, it could potentially signal that Gini Wijnaldum is on his way out of the club. The Dutch midfielder is out of contract at the end of the season and could be set to leave on a free transfer this summer.

Wijnaldum remains a regular in the Liverpool side, but the club being linked with a player like de Paul could suggest that they do not believe the former Newcastle man will extend his deal in the coming weeks. He has started 28 games across the Premier League and Champions League this season, clearly showing that Jurgen Klopp still has faith in him and believes he is a key cog in his Liverpool side.

This also means that there could be a huge hole to fill if Wijnaldum does depart this summer. That is where de Paul comes in, with the midfielder impressing in the Serie A this season. De Paul has averaged an excellent WhoScored rating of 7.34 in the Serie A, which shows that he is able to perform consistently at the top level and could be a good replacement for Wijnaldum.
