Liverpool have been offered the chance to sign Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba by agent Mino Raiola, according to Le10Sport.
The report states that Liverpool have rejected the approach from Pogba’s agent. However, the report does suggest that Liverpool could make a move for the Frenchman towards the backend of his current contract.
Pogba’s contract expires in the summer of 2022.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Pogba is a solid footballer. The midfielder has scored 38 goals and registered 42 assists in 206 appearances for the club.
Pogba is also coming off a solid 2020-21 campaign. The 28-year-old averaged a WhoScored player rating of 7.06 in the Premier League last season.
The aforementioned figures highlight that Pogba would add depth to Liverpool’s midfield. However, even if Raiola offered Pogba to Liverpool, we strongly believe that Manchester United would never sell to a rival.
With that being the case, we believe that the only way Liverpool could sign Pogba is if the Frenchman is available on a free transfer next summer. As things stand, Pogba will be a free agent in less than 12 months time.
