Liverpool have reportedly joined the race to land Wolves forward Adama Traore in the summer due to a drop in his valuation in recent months.
According to Spanish outlet Sport, Liverpool, Manchester City and Leeds United are keen on signing the winger as his future at Wolves is currently in doubt.
The report claims that Liverpool were interested in signing Traore last summer before being put off by his price tag. However, the Reds have now reignited their pursuit due to Wolves putting their asking price down to €40m.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Although Adama has struggled this season in the Premier League with Wolves, he could still be a good investment by Liverpool under the coaching of Jurgen Klopp. The German has already shown what he can do with a forward coming in from Wolves, with Diogo Jota having scored nine goals in nine starts across the Premier League and Champions League so far this season.
Jota and Adama played together at Wolves and reuniting that pairing could help the latter improve his form and return to his best. Last season, Adama produced four goals and nine assists in the Premier League as he averaged a WhoScored rating of 7.49. Only Kevin de Bruyne and Ricardo Pereira averaged higher scores, showing that there is a talented player in there and Klopp could potentially get the best out of him – as he has with Jota.
This means that Adama could be a good addition to Liverpool’s squad in the summer if this report is accurate the Reds are interested in a move for him. Whether or not €40m is a fair valuation is hard to judge until he has played for Liverpool for a couple of seasons, but if he can replicate his 2019/20 form it could be an excellent piece of business.
