Liverpool are interested in Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz, according to The Guardian.

Despite the fact Liverpool have claimed three trophies in the past six months, the latest transfer news suggests that the club are far from settled.

The report states that to acquire the services of Havertz, the Reds would have to spend over £100 million, which would break the club’s transfer record. However, there is no comment on when Liverpool could make a move for the midfielder.

Despite the fee Havertz would cost, the report further states that Jurgen Klopp has discussed acquiring the services of the German with Liverpool’s board.

Havertz, 20, appears to be a fine young player. Klopp certainly has an eye for talent, as we have seen the German manager sign a number of players that many people did not rate before arriving at Anfield.

However, there is no debate regarding Havertz. He is a highly rated player, which is why he would cost in excess of £100 million.

Liverpool have traditionally bought players for much lower sums under Fenway Sports Group, but if Klopp believes Havertz is worth bringing to Anfield, then this is a transfer which could very well happen.
