Liverpool are reportedly in the picture when it comes to a potential Premier League return for former Red Philippe Coutinho.

This comes from Mundo Deportivo (via Sport Witness), with the Spanish outlet asserting that league rivals Tottenham are the main outfit interested in the Brazil international.

Barcelona are thought to be looking to offload the 29-year-old in a bid to raise funds, with the Catalan giants requiring €200m in order to be able to register new signings, according to The Athletic.

Having made his name in the English top-flight, there’s certainly a great deal of sense in an interested party taking a punt in the ex-Liverpool star.

Whether that potential suitor should be Jurgen Klopp’s men is a different debate entirely, however, particularly given that we’re looking to find a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, not to forget the manner of the ‘The Little Magician’s’ Anfield exit.

Were we only in the market for a luxury signing, Coutinho would quite probably fit the bill. However, as things stand, the former Bayern Munich loanee is far from what we need right now.
