The Eagles are expected to make a further bid despite their first approach being turned down.

The 19-year-old has been enjoying an outstanding season on loan at Middlesbrough, where his form has alerted a number of Premier League suitors to his attention.

Liverpool are understood to have been approached by other clubs keen to discover Doak’s availability and are braced to learn of further interest.

Doak was a Celtic academy product bought by the Reds in 2022. In 2024, he earned his senior international debut for Scotland, for whom he has won six caps.

Liverpool are said to value Doak at closer to £30m, and they intend to allow the teenager to complete his season-long loan at Middlesbrough if that valuation is not met.

Palace are committed to signing two players to strengthen their squad this month, with a versatile attacking player and a left wing-back the positions the Eagles are targeting.

Doak fits the former description, able to play as a central attacking midfielder as well as on the right wing.

He has scored twice and registered five assists in 20 Championship matches for Boro this season, and featured in all six of Scotland’s Nations League A group-stage matches, assisting a goal in the last-gasp 2-1 win over Poland in November which saw the Scots avoid relegation to League B.
