Kylian Mbappé’s arrival at Real Madrid has shifted the balance among the team’s wingers, pushing others further down the order. From the beginning, there were concerns about how the French star’s presence might affect playing time for the rest of the group.

The 2024-25 season has been a rollercoaster for the Spanish club, navigating both highs and lows in their first year with Mbappé on board.

But looking ahead, will this arrangement hold beyond the current campaign? When the summer transfer window rolls around, could someone start rethinking their future at the club?

With Mbappé and Vinicius Jr. now firmly at the heart of Real Madrid’s attack, Rodrygo might face challenges in securing a significant role.

RMC Sport reports (h/t SPORT) that PSG are indeed putting its focus on Rodrygo this summer. The French outlet reveals that the first step would be convincing the player to consider a change of scenery.

The pitch would be that his role at PSG would be central, unlike his current secondary role at Real Madrid, where he plays in the shadow of Vinicius Jr. and Kylian Mbappé.

At PSG, he’d be the focal point of Luis Enrique’s attack and enjoy a substantial financial upgrade. This would be the only viable way to secure the transfer. Nonetheless, Real Madrid have no intention of negotiating with the capital club for the player who has a €1 billion release clause.

If the player were to request a move, the club would prioritize talks with Premier League teams but would never consider a transfer to Paris, per the report. The only possible route would be for PSG to pay the entire release clause, with the player’s consent, just as Real Madrid outlined for Vinicius with Saudi clubs.

Meanwhile, Liverpool might be in the market for a top-tier winger next summer, with Mohamed Salah yet to commit to a contract extension. The Premier League club could be preparing for life without their star forward.

Former Liverpool player Daniel Murphy has urged the Reds to consider targeting Real Madrid’s Rodrygo as a potential replacement for Salah in 2025.
