Liverpool have Lecce’s U19 starlet Patrick Dorgu in their sights ahead of a potential summer move, according to Calciomercato.com.

The Nigerian-born Danish youngster has caught the attention of Liverpool’s scouts after helping Lecce win the Primavera – the Italian U19 league.

The Danish left-back made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals.

The 18-year-old is one of the highly-rated talents in Serie A’s youth circuit, and the Merseysiders don’t want to miss out on him.

Dorgu’s transfer is seen as a move to enrich Liverpool’s youth ranks rather than an outright signing for the first team.

However, the former Nordsjaelland star can draw inspiration from the likes of Curtis Jones and Stefan Bajcetic, who have risen through the ranks at Anfield and are now key first-team squad members.

After a dismal 2022/23 campaign, where they missed out on the Champions League spot and failed to lift a trophy, Liverpool have plenty of transfer objectives this summer.

A big overhaul is on the cards at Anfield, with Roberto Firmino, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, Naby Keita and James Milner already bidding farewell.

Midfield reinforcements are reportedly of utmost importance to manager Jurgen Klopp, with a handful of names linked to Liverpool.

The Reds recently welcomed Alexis Mac Allister as their first summer signing, with the Argentine World Cup winner moving from Brighton & Hove Albion in a deal worth £35 million.

Celta Vigo’s Spanish sensation Gabri Veiga recently emerged on Liverpool’s radar, while Khephren Thuram, Manu Kone and Nicolo Barella are midfield targets.
