Liverpool are reportedly one of the clubs interested in a potential transfer swoop for in-form Porto striker Samu Omorodion, who could be viewed as a replacement for Darwin Nunez.

Nunez has not been an automatic starter since Arne Slot took over as Liverpool manager, and it seems the Reds are now open to doing business up front, with Omorodion on their radar, according to Spanish outlet Fichajes.

The 20-year-old left Atletico Madrid for Porto this summer and has made a promising start to life in Portugal, finding the back of the net seven times in seven appearances in all competitions so far.

It seems likely that Omorodion would be an upgrade on the inconsistent Nunez, with CaughtOffside previously told that the Uruguay international may be approaching his last chance to win over Slot.

Samu Omorodion to replace Darwin Nunez at Liverpool?

Nunez was once again on the bench for Liverpool in their win over Chelsea yesterday, though he ended up spending quite a lot of time on the pitch as he came on to replace the injured Diogo Jota.

It may well be that Nunez will have a role to play as a squad player for LFC, but he’s certainly not really delivered on the hype that surrounded his arrival from Benfica a few years ago, when it looked like he would surely come in to be a regular starter at Anfield.

Omorodion is still relatively young and unproven, but looks like he has a bit more to his game, so could surely be worth investing in, with Nunez perhaps due to move on if things don’t improve between now and the end of the season.

Fichajes also claim that Omorodion’s fine form has seen him attract strong interest from Paris Saint-Germain as well, so it might not be easy for the Reds to win the race for the Spain Under-21 international.
