Paris Saint-Germain currently have Achraf Hakimi as their right-back, and it seems that the Moroccan international is set to extend his contract. Still, in football, nothing is certain until everything is signed.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano recently mentioned that PSG and Hakimi are finalizing the extension details, with the contract length and salary nearly agreed upon.
That said, could PSG be looking to add some competition for Hakimi? According to Fichajes, the club is eyeing a potential signing from Real Madrid and is also interested in Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold, whose contract runs until 2025.
Alexander-Arnold has attracted interest from several top European clubs, with PSG and Real Madrid reportedly in advanced discussions regarding the young English star.
CaughtOffside reports that Liverpool have expressed interest in RB Salzburg’s 22-year-old right back Amar Dedić amid interest from clubs like Real Madrid and PSG.
In a discussion panel on Sky Sports, Theo Walcott expressed that he doesn’t see the Englishman as an elite defender. He pointed out that if Alexander-Arnold aims to win the Ballon d’Or, he still has some work to do.
These remarks serve as a reminder for PSG, Real Madrid, and any other clubs interested in the Englishman to be aware of his defensive shortcomings.
“He’s not at that [Ballon d’Or] level because defensively, like I said at the start of the game, is where I will feel he will be tested,” Walcott said.
“[Gabriel] Martinelli, we’re not saying Martinelli is a Vinicius Jr. Martinelli is a very good player, but he caused problems and that’s why [we are] talking about [Ibrahima] Konaté coming over to help Trent. I think if you’re Ballon d’Or, you don’t need help.”
