Liverpool players ‘will have talked to’ £83m star over Anfield move | OneFootball

Liverpool players will have held ‘conversations’ with Borussia Dortmund sensation Jude Bellingham during the international break regarding a potential move to Anfield, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Jurgen Klopp was handed just shy of £100 million to strengthen his squad during the summer transfer window but further investment is already being planned on Merseyside.

What is the latest on Bellingham?

After England drew 3-3 with Germany in the Nations League at Wembley, Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson praised the teenager’s ‘mentality’ and described him as an ‘amazing player’.

The Reds have been strongly linked with Bellingham and are understood to be making progress as they look to prise him away from Dortmund next summer.

The Bundesliga giants spent just £30 million on the former Birmingham City man back in 2020 but now value him at £132 million.

However, Liverpool may have hope of landing him in a cut-price deal, as The Sun report Dortmund may be willing to accept an £83 million bid if the fee is paid upfront.

What has Jones said on the situation?

Jones believes it is likely Liverpool’s representatives in the England squad will have talked to Bellingham regarding a potential move.

However, the journalist adds that they would have not spent too much time on the topic as they look to book their own spots in Qatar.

When asked about the potential for conversations, Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “It's not unheard of that it happens, I'm not sure that it would have happened this time around. It was a weird England meet-up this time in terms of where everyone's at in their current season and the plans to try and get into that World Cup squad.

“Trent Alexander-Arnold, for example, has got to be fully focused on even getting into the England squad, let alone trying to convince players in that squad to come and play for his club team. I'm sure conversations happened. But I don't think that they would have spent much time trying to convince him.”

Unsurprisingly, the six-time European champions are not the only side to be linked with his services.

According to The Telegraph, Chelsea are the latest team to enter the race for the 19-year-old with chairman Todd Boehly confident he can catch up with his competitors.

Real Madrid are also understood to have thrown their hat into the ring while Manchester City phenomenon Erling Haaland has reportedly told his former Dortmund teammate to join him at the Etihad.
