Blackburn Rovers could look to use their relationship with Liverpool once again this summer to bring in Leighton Clarkson on loan for their season next year in the Sky Bet Championship.
Rovers had Harvey Elliott on loan last season and he did a fantastic job, to the extent where he could now be used in the first-team at Anfield next season.
Clarkson is a bit shy of that at the moment, of course, but he’s still a young player with a very bright future and, as per Lancashire Live, Rovers are looking to complete a deal for him.
We saw Clarkson feature in the Champions League last year against FC Midtjylland and he is very accomplished on the ball already – he just needs a good move to get senior football regularly now to help him with his development.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
This would be a good move for Clarkson.
We saw with Harvey Elliott last season what can be achieved with a good loan move to the Championship and it is clear the Reds are appreciative of how Blackburn can help them develop footballers.
Clarkson is a really bright talent and with the right steps he’ll be a real hit in the future at Anfield.
