As reported by Bild, Liverpool are planning to smash their transfer record on Bayern Munich winger Leroy Sané.

During the summer, Liverpool turned down a number of offers from Saudi Arabia, with the highest reported to be worth a total of €150m for Mohamed Salah. However, there is an understanding at the club that another approach will be made in January and that the offer will be too lucrative to turn down.

Therefore, the Reds are hunting down a future successor to their Egyptian king. While there have been reports linking Borussia Dortmund’s Donyell Malen to Anfield, there is now an understanding that Leroy Sané is Jürgen Klopp’s primary target.

With the 27-year-old held in such high regard by Klopp, Liverpool are prepared to smash their transfer record for the winger, which would see Bayern receive more than €92M. However, Liverpool would have to face competition from Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona if they are to secure the services of Sané.

Regardless, the final decision will be down to Sané, who is contemplating his future in Bavaria. With his contract set to expire in 2025, he will either extend his deal with Bayern this summer or depart for pastures new.
