Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp can’t wait for new boy Sepp Van Den Berg to get his first taste of Liverpool action but admitted he will have to wait to get on the pitch.

Liverpool’s only summer signing is still waiting on the proper paperwork to go through, meaning that he missed out on the Reds’ 6-0 pre-season debut victory over Tranmere.

The 17-year-old will miss out on Sunday’s match against Bradford City but should be available for Liverpool’s United States tour when they face Borussia Dortmund, and Sporting.

In an interview with Evening Express, Klopp hinted that the Dutch centre-back could even receive first-team minutes this season.

“It depends. I open the door but the boys have to go through still,” Klopp said.

“He is a wonderful player as well, but because of FIFA rules he is not available in the moment, but we have other good players.

“He thought his future should be here and I thought the same, so now he is here and now let’s work together.

“He is 17 years old and when you see him you forget that constantly, but he is 17 and so there is a lot to learn.

“The good thing is he has the most time to do so, so everything will be fine.”

Liverpool purchased Van Den Berg from PEC Zwolle for £1.3m, beating the likes of Bayern Munich to his signature.
