Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic has reportedly changed agents in an attempt to seal a permanent transfer away from the club this window.

According to Kicker, as transcribed by Sport Witness, Grujic has changed his agent and Liverpool have now made interested parties aware of the fact that they are prepared to sell him before next month’s transfer deadline.

The report claims that Liverpool are looking for a fee in the region of €20m, which rules Hertha Berlin out of the race as they are only willing to sanction a loan move for the Serbian.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Grujic is, perhaps, a victim of circumstance at Liverpool this summer. The midfielder put in some excellent performances in the Bundesliga over the past two seasons, but has come back to England with Liverpool well-stocked in the central midfield department. Naby Keita, Jordan Henderson, Gini Wijnladum, Fabinho, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Thiago are seemingly ahead of him in the pecking order, making it hard to see where he fits in this season.

At 24, a loan may not be the right move for Grujic to make as he looks for a settled club heading into his prime years. This may be why he has changed agent in order to force through a permanent transfer to another European club in order to progress his career to the next level. In two seasons in the Bundesliga, Grujic was given WhoScored ratings of 7.26 and 6.93 – highlighting how impressive he was in Germany on loan to Hertha Berlin.

So, whilst it may be a shame that Grujic could leave the club permanently, the options listed above in his position make it seem like the right call. The likes of Thiago, Henderson and Fabinho will, hopefully, now enjoy successful seasons and Grujic will be able to perform well wherever he ends up – if he does leave.
