Liverpool matchday ticket prices to increase by 2% from next season | OneFootball

Liverpool have announced a 2% increase in the price of matchday tickets starting next season.

The Anfield club have ended their eight-year freeze on ticket prices.

As a result, most general admission tickets will rise by £1 per game.

£17 will be added onto the price of a season ticket – which covers all their 19 Premier League home games.

However, ticket prices remain frozen for juniors and the local general sale, which will remain at £9 per ticket.

Liverpool have blamed the increase on significant rising costs across the club.

The Reds claim annual operating costs for Anfield have increased by nearly 40% since 2018.

They also say utility costs have gone up by 100% this term.

Anfield’s capacity will rise from 54,000 to 61,000 next season when the new Anfield Road Stand is completed.

As a result, 1,000 new season tickets will be allocated and 3,000 new general admission tickets are set to be available.

Liverpool are following in the footsteps of Manchester United and Arsenal, who have also increased prices of their tickets.

Their season tickets would rise by 5% next season, but the Reds are increasing theirs by just 2%.

Nevertheless, fans will be unhappy with the decision, but nothing can be done about it.

Anfield’s expansion comes at a cost, and it appears the supporters would be made to bear part of it.

Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group (FSG), are considering a partial sale to fund the next stage in the club’s development.

They want media companies as potential investors to acquire minority stakes, but that has not stopped them from increasing ticket prices.
