According to Liverpool manager Arne Slot, Diogo Jota is doubtful for their next match against RB Leipzig in the Champions League.

The Reds beat Chelsea 2-1 in the Premier League on Sunday, thanks to goals from Mohamed Salah and Curtis Jones, who Gary Neville had huge praise for.

Slot’s team managed to stay at the top of the league standings after winning 21 points out of a possible 24 this season.

However, their win against Enzo Maresca’s Chelsea side came at a cost when Jota was injured in the match and had to be substituted and replaced by Darwin Nunez in the first half.

Slot has now provided an update about the injured star, claiming that he is most likely going to miss the match against RB Leipzig in midweek.

The Dutch manager said, as reported by GOAL:

“Diogo had to be substituted and I am not sure what it is, but I’d be surprised if he is there on Wednesday.”

Jota has been playing well for the Merseyside club this season under the leadership of Slot.

The Portugal international has scored four goals for the Reds, only Salah and Luis Diaz have scored more goals than him.

The former Wolves man has lead the Liverpool attack well this season and it is highly likely that Nunez will be once again deployed to lead the attack for Slot’s team.

Liverpool are going to face a tough run of fixtures moving on and that is why Jota’s presence is crucial for the team.

Liverpool need Diogo Jota for their tough run coming up

After the Champions League encounter against Leipzig, the Reds travel to the Emirates Stadium to play Arsenal.

Their tough run will not stop there as they travel away to Brighton after that in the Carabao Cup on the 30th October.

It is a huge test for Slot’s team and it remains to be seen how they will react without their first choice attacker in the difficult matches.

The Dutch manager has so far done a brilliant job at Anfield and made a record start to his managerial career in the Premier League.

He has not taken long to settle at the club following the departure of Jurgen Klopp and made Liverpool title contenders straight away.
