Liverpool have made first contact with Atalanta to ask about the situation of Argentine defender Cristian Romero ahead of a potential transfer.
Liverpool have already signed Ibrahima Konate this summer and will potentially be looking to keep the likes of Nat Phillips around, as well as seeing the likes of Virgil van Dijk, Joel Matip and Joe Gomez all return from injury, so they are well stocked for centre-halves.
However, situations, as we know, can change and so, according to Sky Italia, Liverpool have asked Atalanta about Romero and evidently want to be kept in the loop about him potentially being available for a transfer.
ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT
Romero is a good player and has been a part of Atalanta’s team since 2020 when he joined them initially on loan from Juventus.
Indeed, he did enough to get a permanent move there and it now could be the case he is on the move again this summer, though we’ll have to see if that is the case.
Liverpool seem to be just asking about his situation at the moment, rather than making a firm bid, and so this could be a slow-burner if it’s anything at all.
