The report says the Premier League champions insist no bid has been made and they are aware of Newcastle's not for sale stance, but were willing to do a deal in the region of £120m.

It is recognised that while sensitivities are understandably very high around Anfield following the tragic passing of Diogo Jota, there is a need to add to the front line, with several players linked with moves away.

Earlier on Tuesday, Liverpool rejected a £50m+ bid from Bayern Munich for Luis Díaz, while Darwin Núñez is rumoured to be of interest to Napoli among others.

The Reds have already broken the British transfer record this summer with the £100m initial fee signing of Florian Wirtz, but are willing to go even higher for the Swedish striker.

Isak has been a revelation since signing for the Magpies in 2022, scoring 62 goals in 109 appearances, helping the club to two top 5 finishes, as well as the 2025 EFL Cup, which he scored the second goal in a 2-1 win over the club trying to now sign him.

In addition to the Isak news, Newcastle are in early talks to sign Eintracht Frankfurt's Hugo Ekitike, who has also been linked with move to Liverpool this summer.
