Liverpool have launched an incredible £68m bid for Real Madrid star Rodrygo, according to a report coming out of Spain.

The Reds are expected to target wingers in the upcoming transfer window with the return of Michael Edwards and the arrival of new sporting director Richard Hughes having offered Liverpool the chance to put their transfer plans into action.

One of their reported targets is Rodrygo of Real Madrid, the attacker having been linked with a surprising move to Anfield in recent days.

With doubts over the futures of Luis Diaz and, most significantly, Mohamed Salah, the Reds could be in for a busy summer window when it comes to attacking reinforcements.

LIVERPOOL MAKE OFFICIAL PROPOSAL FOR RODRYGO

Not only are Liverpool interested in signing Rodrygo, Spanish outlet Nacional (via Football365) claim that the Reds have actually launched an official £68m bid for the forward.

Liverpool reportedly put in an initial bid of £51m that was swiftly rejected as it was considered 'unacceptable', but Kylian Mbappe's imminent arrival at the Santiago Bernabeu could unsettle Real's forward line this summer.

Nacional report that 'everything indicates' that it will be Rodrygo who leaves Madrid this summer following the arrival of Mbappe, with Liverpool seeing him as an 'interesting successor' to Salah.

Liverpool believe that a £68m bid may be enough to convince Real to let Rodyrgo leave, but the club's president Florentino Perez is reportedly holding out for bids of no less than £85m.

While Rodrygo, who has already won the Champions League for Real against Liverpool in 2022, would be a sensational signing given his talent, potential and pedigree, it seems unlikely that the Reds would have launched any official bid for the winger.

With no manager yet in place to succeed Jurgen Klopp this summer, Liverpool won't be willing to rush into any transfer business until that situation is clarified.

The 23-year-old does have 13 goals and eight assists this season for Real, but only signed a contract extension with the Spanish side last November.
