The 22-year-old keeper joined Liverpool on a season-long loan deal in August but she has been recalled by her parent club after just three months on Merseyside.
During her time with Liverpool, Startup was named on the bench for seven FA Women’s Championship fixtures while she played in two group games in the FA Women’s Continental League Cup. Startup finished on the winning team in both of those domestic cup games, winning a penalty shootout with Sheffield United and helping Liverpool to a 2-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
After being recalled by Brighton & Hove Albion, Startup told Liverpool’s official media team “Thank you to all the supporters, players, staff and everyone involved at Liverpool FC Women for making me feel so welcome during my time here.
“It’s been a privilege to represent the club and I’ll be watching on and wishing the team every success in their pursuit of promotion. YNWA.”
Startup will now look to put some pressure on first choice goalkeeper Megan Walsh back at Brighton & Hove Albion. Startup could be drafted straight back into the squad as cover when The Seagulls host Manchester United at The People’s Pension Stadium next weekend.
