Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side currently boast the best attacking record in the Premier League with 17 goals scored in seven games with a clash against Watford next up for the Reds who have conceded ten goals in the same number of games played so far this season.

Despite their impressive attacking power, it seems as though the Merseyside club have their eye on potentially signing a new attacking talent in the near future.

Doku joined the French club back in October last year from RSC Anderlecht. Since then, the 19-year-old, who is currently valued at £23.4m according to Transfermarkt, has made 41 appearances for Rennes in which he has managed to score two goals and provide four assists across all competitions.

Mane’s heir?

Prior to moving to France, Doku worked his way through Anderlecht’s youth levels before making 37 senior appearances for the club, scoring six goals and providing seven assists in the process.

On the international stage, the winger, who has been labelled as a “diamond in the rough” by Kevin De Bruyne, has scored two goals in ten senior appearances for Belgium.

In terms of a potential move to Liverpool in the summer, who he has been close to signing with in the past, we feel that the Merseyside club should explore the possibility of bringing him to Anfield as a possible long-term attacking option for the foreseeable future.

In terms of a move to Liverpool, Klopp could well unearth their next Sadio Mane.

Doku has made three dribbles per game so far this season in Ligue 1 which is not only more than any other player at Rennes, but it’s also more than Mane’s one dribble per game average according to WhoScored.

Combine that with the fact that Mane, who is 29-years-old, has his current contract at Liverpool expiring in the summer of 2023, perhaps the Merseyside club see Doku as a possible long-term replacement.

Both are incredibly tricky forwards who combine rampaging energy with an eye for goal.

In our view, we feel that Liverpool should work out what the plan is with Mane, if they want to offer him a new deal and if he would be willing to sign one before considering making a potential summer move for Doku. That said, he would certainly be a good signing for Liverpool in the long-term given his young age.
