Liverpool are reportedly interested in young defender Jarrad Branthwaite, with the player currently on loan at Blackburn Rovers from Merseyside rivals Everton.

The Reds came unstuck against the Toffees on Saturday night with the Blues winning at Anfield for the first time in over 20 years.

Unsurprisingly, we’re seeing the Reds linked with a number of defenders at the moment with that in mind and, according to The Daily Mail, young Everton man Branthwaite is of interest.

The report claims the 6ft 5in defender is also attracting the likes of Manchester City and Manchester United right now whilst Everton, naturally, want to try and keep him at Goodison Park.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Branthwaite has played regularly for Rovers in the Championship this season and is a real physical presence at the back – though he also possesses good quality on the ball.

He is a left-footed defender which naturally makes him a bit of a rarer commodity and potentially opens up different options for whoever has him.

Liverpool are keen, then, but it’d be some move to prise him away from the Blues.
