Even though Liverpool have a healthy number of central-midfielders in their squad at the moment, some of them, such as Thiago Alcantara (30), James Milner (35) and Jordan Henderson (32) are some of the club’s oldest players.

Taking this into account, it’s not surprising to hear that the club have been linked with a move for one of Europe’s top young talents.

Since joining the German club from Championship club Birmingham City back in the 2020 summer transfer window, the 18-year-old, who is currently valued at £63m according to Transfermarkt, has made 61 appearances for Dortmund across all competitions in which he has managed to score seven goals and provide 10 assists in the process.

So far this season, Bellingham has made nine appearances for Dortmund in the Bundesliga in which he has managed to score two goals, provide two assists and earn himself an overall season rating of 7.37/10, making him their third-highest rated player according to WhoScored, underneath Erling Haaland and Giovanni Reyna.

On the international stage, the teenager, who has been described as a “huge talent” by former Birmingham manager Pep Clotet, has made eight senior appearances for England.

Liverpool’s next Henderson?

In terms of a potential transfer move to Liverpool in the future for Bellingham, which we feel would make a lot of Liverpool fans excited, we also feel that this could potentially mirror the Merseyside club’s 2011 transfer move for Henderson from Sunderland, who has since gone on to make over 400 appearances for the Reds.

Even though Henderson signed a new four-year deal with Liverpool over the summer, we also feel that Bellingham could well be a suitable long-term replacement for Liverpool’s club captain if he ends up leaving at the end of his current contract.

Moving forward, if a future transfer move for Bellingham would be financially viable for the Merseyside club, we feel that this should be something that FSG look to explore to add a young midfield talent to Klopp’s squad that could go on to have a long and illustrious career at Anfield, in a similar way Henderson has done over the past decade.
