Although the summer transfer window for 2024/25 only closed less than two weeks ago, Liverpool are already being linked with players for next year.

Reports suggest that Liverpool are lining up a move for a London-based player as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah.

With Salah entering the final 12 months of his contract next summer, the club is aware that they may need to find a replacement if the 32-year-old is unable to agree a new deal at Anfield.

Brentford responds to Mbeumo interest

According to Give Me Sport, Liverpool are planning ahead to bring in a new forward, with Brentford’s £50million-rated winger, Bryan Mbeumo, emerging as a target. However, they could face competition from Arsenal and Newcastle United for his signature.

The 25-year-old has been attracting interest from top Premier League clubs after his impressive form with the Bees and is already a hit with Liverpool fans, after scoring against Manchester United, when the west London club hammered them 4-0 in August 2022.

However, according to Football Insider, Brentford have sent a clear signal that they are unwilling to sell the forward in January.

Earlier in the summer, L’Equipe reported that Mbeumo was prepared to make a major move to a top club like Liverpool. The winger has consistently demonstrated his quality at Brentford and has earned the opportunity to take this next step in his career.

Mbuemo has proved to be a class act for Thomas Frank's side. He scored nine goals and provided six assists for the Bees in the Premier League last season. The Cameroon international has once again started the season strongly with three goals in three league games.

Given that Liverpool only had to spend £10million on Federico Chiesa, affording someone like Mbeumo should not be an issue if Salah departs on a free transfer. The real question is: does Mbeumo have the quality to replace a superstar like Salah at Anfield? Time will tell.
