Liverpool are ‘likely’ going to sign a midfielder this summer as they look for a replacement for Gini Wijnaldum, that is the view of David Maddock for the Mirror.

Wijnaldum’s exit earlier in the week to French side PSG seems to have really increased the speculation and spotlight on our midfield options, with rumours now flying over whether Liverpool are going to add to what they’ve got or stick with what they have.

As per Maddock, it’s likely Liverpool will complete a move for a midfielder this summer, we just need to wait and see who it is.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Florian Neuhaus is the main link at the moment with a buzz of activity and speculation around his name towards the end of the week after the Wijnaldum deal was done.

Maddock evidently believes that Liverpool will sign a midfielder this summer and so it could well be the German international.

Many midfield names have been linked with the Reds in recent weeks and months amid the Wijnaldum speculation, though, and so we’ll just have to hold on and see who the club makes a genuine attempt to sign in the near future.
