Former Liverpool striker Robbie Fowler has revealed the reason he would choose Jose Mourinho to replace Jurgen Klopp in the Anfield dugout instead of Arne Slot.
Liverpool's long search for Klopp's successor appears to have landed on Feyenoord manager Slot, who recently agreed a deal with the Reds to take charge of the club next season.
Bayer Leverkusen's Xabi Alonso and Sporting CP's Ruben Amorim were the two previous front-runners for the Liverpool hot seat, but the former committed his future to the German club and the latter was rejected by the Reds.

There have been plenty of rumours regarding various other less likely candidates over the past few months, including a very brief period in which former Chelsea, Manchester United and Tottenham boss Jose Mourinho was linked with the role.
However, while the majority of Liverpool supporters were relieved to see Mourinho quickly ruled out of the running, club legend Fowler believes that the Portuguese coach would be a great replacement for Klopp.
Speaking with Crypto Casino LTD, Fowler, who is affectionately known as 'God' among Liverpool fans, claimed that Mourinho's experience would perhaps make him a better fit to succeed Klopp this summer.
"I could understand why you would get someone like a Mourinho, a case in point would be Real Madrid, for example," said Fowler.
"When Zinedine Zidane left for the second time in 2021, they didn’t go looking for a young and up-and-coming manager, they went for an experienced manager in Carlo Ancelotti.
"That experience and that know-how can definitely help a club in transition."

However, Fowler admitted that Slot will receive the full backing of all involved with Liverpool if he can create a positive atmosphere at the club following Klopp's exit.
"As long as the new manager coming in has the character to go and understand the club, the fans and the culture, then that can make it a little bit easier," added the 49-year-old.
"I do think for this particular club, it doesn’t matter if the replacement is experienced or inexperienced, it’s more about the feel of the manager and the club. It’s about how someone like Arne Slot can adapt to that current situation and to the club, then we take it for what it is.
"As long as Arne Slot comes in and creates the right environment for the players to thrive, then he will get the backing of everyone."
Fowler recently admitted that he had to google who Slot was after hearing the recent news of his imminent appointment and the Dutch coach will be keen to silence his doubters as soon as possible.
