Liverpool have made contact with the representatives of Monchengladbach midfielder Florian Neuhaus over a potential move, though any deal will likely have to be struck after the European Championships now.

The Reds saw Gini Wijnaldum leave the club earlier in the week and the plan now needs to be to decide whether to sign someone or promote from within in order to replace him.

Clearly, that decision will be made over the coming weeks and, if the Reds opt to do some business, Neuhaus could well be the man they turn to.

This update comes from Reds reporter David Lynch:

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

With the European Championships getting underway on Friday night, it could now be a month before we see any big deals happen involving players at the tournament.

That said, the Neuhaus transfer will be no different and we’ll just have to see if talks progress in the coming weeks to the stage where, after the tournament, he is in a position where he wants to join our club.

He’s certainly a good player but it remains to be seen if this deal is going to happen – we’re at early stages by the looks of things.
