Liverpool ‘would love the opportunity’ to lure Borussia Dortmund star Jude Bellingham to Anfield in January, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Jurgen Klopp, whose side have gone into the break from domestic football sitting sixth in the Premier League, will be handed the chance to bolster his squad during the winter transfer window.

What’s the latest news involving Bellingham?

According to Spanish sources, via FourFourTwo, Bellingham could join Liverpool as a parting gift from Fenway Sports Group.

The report suggests the Merseyside giants are long-term admirers of the teenager and the club’s owners, who put the Reds up for sale earlier this month, are hopeful of winning the race for his services.

Manchester United and Manchester City are also in the running to reach an agreement with Dortmund, while it has emerged that Bellingham is not interested in joining Chelsea.

Real Madrid are another club battling for the central midfielder’s signature and it is understood the Bundesliga giants are seeking £129million.

Dortmund chief executive Hans-Joachim Watzke has revealed discussions will be held over Bellingham’s future after he returns from the World Cup.

What has Pete O’Rourke said about Bellingham?

O’Rourke believes Liverpool are keen to reach an agreement which would see Bellingham head to Merseyside during the fast-approaching winter transfer window.

However, the journalist feels it is almost impossible for any of the 19-year-old’s suitors to reach an agreement midway through the campaign.

O’Rourke told GIVEMESPORT: “I’m sure Liverpool would love the opportunity to sign him in January.

“But, unfortunately for Liverpool and any other interested clubs, if he keeps playing like he is at the World Cup, it’s only going to increase his price tag.

“I’m sure Borussia Dortmund will not be looking to entertain any offers for Bellingham in the January transfer window.”

Could Bellingham’s price tag increase at the World Cup?

Bellingham would surpass Jack Grealish as the most expensive signing in British football history if Dortmund’s financial demands are met by Liverpool.

But there is every chance that the former Birmingham City man’s price tag will go up after being included in the England squad for the World Cup, where he has already made a lasting impression.

Bellingham grabbed his first-ever Three Lions goal during the 6-2 Group B victory over Iran and that put Gareth Southgate’s side on course for a comfortable win.

He went into Friday’s clash with the United States having registered a match rating of 8.2 on his World Cup debut, which was only bettered by Bukayo Saka.
