Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is in a 'bizarre' predicament at Anfield due to his players putting in a 'worrying' string of performances, transfer insider Dean Jones has informed GIVEMESPORT.

The Reds find themselves tenth in the Premier League table, having taken just 29 points from 20 matches this campaign.

Liverpool are winless in their last three matches across all competitions, while have not won a Premier League match in 2023, with their last top-flight victory coming against Leicester City on December 30th 2022.

Despite their poor form, The Athletic has reported that Liverpool chiefs have given manager Klopp their full backing to turn the situation around, with his work at the club since taking over back in 2015 earning him sufficient credit in the bank.

The German coach was visibly aggrieved with his players last weekend at Wolves, where they were on the end of a resounding 3-0 defeat, which is hardly a surprise when you evaluate the soft nature of the goals Liverpool conceded.

Klopp is set to lead a major squad rebuild this summer, with the likes of Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham, Wolves ace Matheus Nunes and Chelsea attacker Mason Mount all being mooted as targets.

What has Dean Jones said about Liverpool's form?

Transfer insider Jones is dumbfounded by how poor Liverpool has been this season as a collective, stating that it is 'bizarre' that so many players have failed to produce consistent performances.

Jones told GMS: "Yeah, I think you know, the fact that even those top players have seen their levels drop this season makes it even more worrying, to be honest. I mean, you know, some of the players that are just failing to perform at their highest standard is bizarre."

Where has it gone wrong for Liverpool this season?

All things considered, there are several reasons why Liverpool have been underwhelming this season. Failing to invest in an ageing midfield properly has been one of them, with only Arthur Melo coming in on loan from Juventus across either the summer or winter window.

The Brazilian has failed to make an impact at Anfield, leaving the likes of Jordan Henderson, Thiago Alcantara, James Milner and Fabinho to challenge for starting slots in the engine room, with all considered to be nearing the twilight of their careers before too long.

Of course, the effects of a bruising 2021/22 campaign will still weigh heavy on many players, as Liverpool competed in 63 matches in a calendar year, that is before even taking into account players' exploits on international duty.

Merseyside derby against Everton next Monday, which has the potential to be a tasty affair between two bitter rivals in need of points on the board.
