Liverpool can now afford to make the ‘unthinkable’ decision and allow Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah to walk away from Anfield thanks to Jurgen Klopp’s ‘clever’ recruitment, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

The Reds may have missed out on the Premier League title, but the opening of the summer window is just a matter of weeks away and there is uncertainty over Mane and Salah’s respective futures on Merseyside.

What’s the latest news involving Mane and Salah?

Mane is set to enter the final 12 months of his £200,000-per-week contract, but Liverpool are keen to tie him down to a fresh deal.

Although that is the case, with Mane wanting to stay at Anfield and Klopp also keen to keep the 30-year-old on board, it is understood that the Reds will not offer a substantial pay rise when they open discussions.

Respected German journalist Christian Falk has claimed Paris Saint-Germain are the frontrunners to secure Mane’s services if the £72million-rated star moves onto pastures new.

Like Mane, Salah’s £225,000-per-week contract will expire in the summer of 2023, leading to uncertainty over his long-term future.

Salah, who is valued at £90million by Transfermarkt, has insisted there has not been a hold-up in him putting pen-to-paper simply due to wage demands.

What has Dean Jones said about the duo?

Jones believes Klopp has been wise in attempting to prepare for life without Mane and Salah in case they fail to agree fresh terms.

The transfer insider now feels Liverpool could cope with the attacking duo walking away from the Merseyside giants.

Jones told GIVEMESPORT: “Klopp’s been very clever in the way that he has started to find a 2.0 version of his frontline before the old ones have even disappeared.

“We’ve seen Roberto Firmino edged out and now you can actually start to see life beyond Salah and Mane, which was unthinkable at the start of the season.”

Who has worked their way into Liverpool’s frontline?

Liverpool forked out an initial fee of £37million in order to tempt Luis Diaz away from Porto and the move has paid off.

Not only has he already got his hands on the Carabao Cup and FA Cup since joining in January, but the 25-year-old has registered 11 goal contributions.

Diogo Jota has also shone following his £41million switch from Wolverhampton Wanderers less than two years ago, with him finding the back of the net 34 times.
