Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp could get a double boost when Calvin Ramsay returns from injury, according to Pete O’Rourke.

That’s because the journalist reckons Ramsay being fit might improve Trent Alexander-Arnold’s form following his testing start to the season.

Ramsay arrived at Anfield from Aberdeen in a £4.2m deal this summer hoping to provide cover and competition for Alexander-Arnold, who’s been one of the top right-backs in the Premier League in recent years.

But the Scot, who currently earns £17,000 every week, is yet to make his Reds debut having been injured since the early parts of pre-season.

Klopp recently claimed Ramsay is getting ‘closer and closer‘ to making his return to action, which could also prove helpful for Alexander-Arnold.

The £180,000 per-week England international is Liverpool’s far and away first choice at right back, starting 107 of the last 120 Premier League games since the beginning of the 2019-2020 campaign.

But Ramsay returning from injury might help Alexander-Arnold’s level improve and also give him the chance to get the occasional rest, which generally hasn’t happened in the last couple of years.

Alexander-Arnold is unlikely to lose his place in the side any time soon but having Ramsay there could help him get back to his best following one of the toughest spells in his short career.
