Liverpool are reportedly one of the clubs keen on the Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder Georgiy Sudakov.

The 21-year-old has established himself as a key player for the Ukrainian side and his performances have attracted the attention of Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona as well.

The midfielder has a contract with Shakhtar Donetsk until December 2028 and it contains a €150 million release clause according to Calciomercato. It is highly unlikely that clubs like Liverpool will be open to paying that kind of money for the talented young midfielder.

While there is no doubt that is a prodigious talent with a big future, he has done nothing to justify the price tag and Shakhtar Donetsk will have to be more reasonable with their demands in order for the move to go through.

Georgiy Sudakov might not be the right fit for Liverpool

The midfielder is likely to be attracted to the idea of competing in the Premier League and Liverpool would be an exciting move for him. The Premier League side could certainly use more quality and depth in the middle of the park and Sudakov will add technical liability, control and flair to the side.

However, Liverpool already have players like Alexis Mac Allister, Ryan Gravenberch and Dominik Szoboszlai. They should look to sign a defensive midfielder instead.

It will be interesting to see if Liverpool follow up on their interest with an official proposal at the end of the season.

With clubs like Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Barcelona keen on the player as well, the report from Calciomercato states that there could be an auction. Liverpool have limited resources and they will not want to be drawn into a bidding war.
