Preston North End centre-back Ben Davies has emerged as an unlikely option to solve Liverpool’s defensive crisis.
There are various reports detailing that the Premier League champions are close to agreeing a £2m deal with the Championship club ahead of Monday’s transfer deadline.
The 25-year-old has been consistently linked with a move to Celtic throughout January with it believed that the SPL side were set to agree a pre-contract deal with the defender’s current deal expiring in the summer.
But it now seems that the left-footed centre-back is heading for Anfield.
Davies has made 19 appearances for Alex Neil’s side this season, with Preston sitting 11th after conceding 34 goals in 27 games.
