With Real Madrid set to return to training in under two weeks, one of the biggest unanswered questions remains the future of Rodrygo Goes.
The Brazilian international does not appear to have a future at the Santiago Bernabeu, considering the marginalised role he had in the final phase of the 2024/25 season.
Xabi Alonso hardly called upon the 24-year-old forward at the FIFA Club World Cup and it appears that other players are ahead of the former Santos wonderkid in the pecking order.
Arsenal, for one, had shown a serious interest in Rodrygo, but have seemingly moved on from him. However, their Premier League rivals, Liverpool, have emerged as a suitor for the Real Madrid ace.
Following reports that Liverpool are ready to make a move for Rodrygo, journalist Santi Aouna now reports that there has been direct contact between the club and the player’s camp.
Liverpool have been one of the most active teams in the summer transfer window, making several headline signings, including former Real Madrid target Florian Wirtz.

But with Luis Diaz likely to leave for Bayern Munich, the Reds are looking for replacements for the Colombian international and seem to have narrowed in on Rodrygo.
As per the update, direct talks have already taken place between Liverpool and Rodrygo’s entourage, but there have been no negotiations between the two clubs.
Nevertheless, the Merseyside heavyweights’ interest in the Brazilian international seems to be growing.
Real Madrid, for their part, would be open to parting ways with Rodrygo if the player asks to leave and if they receive a satisfactory offer.
Reports so far have suggested that Los Blancos will demand at least €100 million for their Brazilian attacker. Considering that Liverpool have already spent quite heavily this summer, it remains to be seen if they are willing to splash big for Rodrygo as well.
