Liverpool enjoyed a day of days at Old Trafford on Sunday as they went behind enemy lines and absolutely pummelled Manchester United.

There was an ominous sense of dread hanging over the Theatre of Dreams in the moments before kick off and, within only five minutes, all their worst fears were realised.

A biblical malfunction in the United backline saw Naby Keita coast into acres of space before cooly sliding the ball past a helpless David De Gea.

Further first half goals would follow, with the apologetic .

Harry Maguire and Luke Shaw got in an awful tangle in the build up to Diogo Jota's strike while the third came as a result of the rearguard being bent woefully out of shape by some quick Liverpool passing.

The fourth goal was a comedy of errors and woeful positioning as Mohamed Salah was left with the freedom of Old Trafford to bury the ball at the near post.

Things would only get worse after the break as a riotous Liverpool swarmed, knocking the ball off United midfield before Jordan Henderson played a sumptuous ball right into the path of Salah.

The Egyptian King duly obliged by poking the ball home to seal a historic hat-trick and compound the misery inside Old Trafford.

However, while it was the lads popping the ball in the back of the net that caught the headlines, Liverpool fans will have been particularly pleased with the performance of new signing, Ibrahima Konate.

The French centre-back was incredibly solid at the heart of the Liverpool defence and always seemed to be in the right place at the right time.

He exacted a number of interceptions and showed great speed both in mind and leg as he thwarted a number of promising United situations.

Now, Konate's highlights have emerged and they show that Liverpool could have potential defensive great on their hands.

Superb - keep in mind that Konate had made just one Premier League start prior to this and is just 22 years old.

His potential, alongside the colossus that is Virgil van Dijk, is incredible and it would be no surprise were he to go on and become one of the first names on the Liverpool team sheet in the coming years.

Of course, United's listless performance means that the jury should cautiously remain out, but the initial signs are incredibly encouraging.
