But their lead lasted just four minutes when Diogo Jota was left unmarked to head an inch perfect Jordan Henderson cross past David Raya.

Liverpool were ahead after the break when Mohamed Salah broke free to score his 100th Premier League goal for the club.

But the hosts refused to give up and equalised Vitaly Janelt took advantage of some poor defending, before Curtis Jones rifled home to put Liverpool ahead again.

And just when the game looked beyond them, Brentford equalised again through Yoane Wissa to secure another famous result.

Antonio snatches late Elland Road win

Scorers: Raphinha 19′; Firpo (og) 67′, Antonio 90′

Despite West Ham threatening early on, Leeds took the lead through Raphinha whose clinical finish capped an exciting team move.

West Ham thought they’d equalised when Tomas Souček bundled home but after a VAR review, the goal was ruled out after Michail Antonio had clearly elbowed Ilan Meslier.

But the Hammers did eventually get their goal when Jarrod Bowen saw his effort deflect in off Junior Firpo, before Antonio scored a dramatic late winner after being set-up by Declan Rice.

Vardy inspires Foxes comeback

Scorers: Vardy 37′, 85′; Vardy (og) 12′, Cornet 40′

After missing a golden opportunity just seconds prior, Jamie Vardy put Burnley ahead after flicking Ashley Westwood’s corner into his own net.

Vardy then atoned for his error with a typically clinical finish to equalise, before Maxwell Cornet restored Burnley’s lead with a stunning right-footed volley.

However, Leicester and Vardy pegged Burnley back again with another impressive finish, with Chris Wood seeing his late effort ruled out for offside.

Wasteful Newcastle punished by Sarr

Scorers: Sarr 72′; Longstaff 23′

Newcastle broke the deadlock thanks to an incredible strike from Sean Longstaff, who controlled and fired into the top corner from 20 yards.

But after the visitors missed a string of opportunities, Watford were level when Ismaïla Sarr found space to head home from close range – his fourth goal this season.

Watford thought they had snatched all three points late on, but Joshua King’s effort was correctly ruled out for offside.

Townsend continues to shine

Scorers: Townsend (pen) 29′, Doucouré 74′

Andros Townsend continued his impressive form for Everton with a well-taken penalty to put them ahead after Allan was fouled.

The hosts pushed for another goal and went close again through Townsend, before Mathias Normann forced Jordan Pickford into action from long range.

Abdoulaye Doucouré secured all three points with another well-taken goal as Norwich continue to struggle back in the top-flight.

Jesus earns win for City at the Bridge

Scorers: Jesus 53′.

Manchester City showed there is life in their title charge yet after securing a comfortable 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.

Pep Guardiola’s side dominated possession for the majority of the game but struggled to break through during the first half.

But Gabriel Jesus found a way at the start of the second half, turning and stroking a deflected shot into the bottom corner after João Cancelo’s shot landed at his feet.

Jesus could’ve doubled the lead moments later when the ball fell to him at the back post but his shot was cleared off the line by Thiago Silva.

City move above Chelsea and into second after inflicting a first defeat of the season on Thomas Tuchel’s men.

Fernandes misses late penalty as Villa win at Old Trafford

Scorers: Hause 88′.

Bruno Fernandes missed a stoppage time penalty as Aston Villa grabbed a deserved win at Old Trafford.

Villa almost took the lead when David De Gea slipped while making a clearance, diverting the ball directly to Ollie Watkins but the Spaniard recovered to deny the Villa striker’s close-range attempt.

United came close at the end of the first half when Paul Pogba headed Bruno Fernandes’ corner just wide of the far post.

The visitors continued to create chances at will in the second half and Kourtney Hause eventually broke the deadlock, heading in Douglas Luiz’s corner to give Dean Smith’s side the lead.

But the hosts were handed a lifeline when Hause handled Edinson Cavani’s goal-bound header in the area meaning Fernandes had a chance to level from the spot.

However, the Portuguese midfielder blazed his spot-kick over the bar meaning United lose for the first time this season.
