In a recent report, The Athletic mentioned that Liverpool have set their sights on Eintracht Frankfurt striker Hugo Ekitike. It has been stated that the Reds have reached out to the German club over a potential deal for the French forward this summer.

Ekitike’s Impressive Form In German Football

Ekitike enjoyed a productive campaign at the German club after he put in a string of impressive displays as the focal point of their attack. The 23-year-old featured in 48 matches for Eintracht Frankfurt last season, scoring 22 times and earning 12 assists across all fronts.

The Reims-born talent was a reliable performer in the final third based on his average of 4.0 shots per 90 minutes in the Bundesliga. Ekitike kept 38.6% of his shots on target. He was even tidy when distributing possession in the opponent’s half, as evidenced by his pass success rate of 75.5% in top-flight football (stats via fbref.com).

Ekitike is under contract at the German club until the summer of 2029. Therefore, it won’t be easy for the Reds to sign him on the cheap this off-season.

Should Liverpool Boss Arne Slot Get Ekitike On Board This Summer?

Ekitike is proficient at finding a yard of space for himself to get some strikes in at goal. He has got the eye to play some decisive passes on the offensive end of the field and is a consistent goal-scorer up top.

The French talent can even make some dangerous runs with the ball in the opponent’s half. Standing at 1.90m, he is a strong presence in the air as well. However, only time will tell whether Ekitike can replicate his good form in the Premier League if Liverpool manage to secure his services this summer.
