Liverpool have shown strong interest in Juventus forward Federico Chiesa, according to Italian publication Calcio Mercato, as cited by the Liverpool Echo.

However, apparently the Reds are not the only club interested in the 23-year-old.

The report states that Chelsea are expected to approach Juventus about Chiesa in the coming months.

The winger signed a two-year loan deal with Juventus back in October 2020. However, Juventus are obligated to purchase Chiesa from Fiorentina for a reported transfer fee of £34.3 million at the end of the season.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

Liverpool do have an ageing forward line. The likes of Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino are all aged between 28-30. The aforementioned players can’t represent the Reds forever.

Therefore, we would not be against Liverpool making a move for Chiesa. The forward is only 23 years of age, which highlights that his career is far from finished.

Chiesa has scored 15 goals and registered 10 assists in 48 appearances for Juventus’ first-team. The winger would add end product and depth to Liverpool’s squad.

Chiesa possesses a current market value of €70 million.
