Naby Keita hasn’t played for Liverpool since the 2-1 defeat against Manchester City in the Community Shield.
The Guinea international has had a tough six months or so with multiple injuries, as he missed the Champions League final and also returned from the Africa Cup of Nations due to a knock.
The 24-year-old is yet to show his best to the Reds since signing from RB Leipzig last season, but there was some good news regarding his return.
Jurgen Klopp was speaking ahead of the clash against Chelsea and told the reporters that Keita was back in training (h/t LiverpoolFC.com):
“Naby Keita is back in training at least, with the team. Today for the first time with the team.”
The German also provided an update on Divock Origi as the Belgian was injured in the win over Newcastle:
“Div, we have to see day by day, that’s how it was from the first day – how can he deal with the pain and stuff like that. We will see.”
Klopp was unsure of Origi’s availability and didn’t want to rule him out from facing the Blues.
The Guinea midfielder is one of the most dynamic players we have in the team, but he needs to stay fit to get chances.
The 24-year-old’s return is a huge boost for us as we play several games in the coming month and Klopp will have to rotate the team. Keita has all the tools to succeed in the Premier League and just needs a consistent run of games.

It will be interesting to keep track of the midfielder and hopefully, he plays a game soon.
