Liverpool have confirmed that goalkeeper Vitezslav Jaros has joined Eredivisie giants Ajax on a season-long loan for the 2025/26 season.
The 23-year-old keeper committed his future to the club by signing a new contract before jetting off to the Netherlands to join the Eredivisie runners-up.
Jaros joined Liverpool’s youth set-up from Slavia Prague in 2017 and progressed through the ranks over the years before joining the first team in 2022.
The Czech Republic international made his senior debut during a 10-minute cameo last October.
He replaced Alisson during Liverpool’s 1-0 win against Crystal Palace before starting in the 3-2 EFL Cup win against Brighton & Hove Albion later that month.
Jaros was a familiar face in Arne Slot’s squad last season.
Even though he only played twice across all competitions, he was named in the matchday squad 28 times throughout the season.
The talented goalkeeper will now continue his development in Amsterdam.
He will reunite with John Heintinga, who has taken charge of Ajax after serving as part of Slot’s coaching staff at Liverpool.
Jaros has spent a large chunk of his Liverpool spell away from Anfield. He had loan spells at St Patrick’s Athletic, Notts County, Stockport County, and most recently Sturm Graz.
He helped Sturm Graz win a domestic league and cup double in the 2023/24 season. At Ajax, he’ll bring not only that experience but also a skill set that fits the club’s infamous footballing philosophy.
“Ajax like to do things the Ajax way,” he said via (Ajax’s website). “That suits me. At Liverpool, we tried to play in a similar way last season. I’m comfortable playing with the ball at my feet.”
Jaros’ exit is the latest tweak to Liverpool’s goalkeeping department. Alisson is the first-choice keeper, but he’ll be challenged by new signing Giorgi Mamardashvili, who has vowed to fight for his place.
Hungarian talent Armin Pecsi has also joined and is set to take on a developmental role with the under-21s.
