Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker spoke about Inter owned striker Gabriel ‘Gabigol’ Barbosa, who is currently set to play against the Reds in the upcoming Club World Cup with Flamengo, in an interview with Brazilian media outlet GloboEsporte yesterday.
“If we go to the final against Flamengo I will try not to concede, even if he is a player who has confidence and has already shown to have quality and potential. I’ll work not only not to let him score, but also not to make Flamengo score and let my team win.”
Gabigol has scored an incredible 34 goals and provided 11 assists in 40 appearances for Flamengo this season, helping them win both the Brazilian league title as well as the coveted Copa Libertadores.
The 23-year-old Brazilian has revitalised his career in his native country, following a disappointing spell in Europe with Inter and Benfica. The Nerazzurri are now hoping to sell him in January in order to fund other market moves.
