Liverpool will submit a planning application this week for the proposed expansion of their Anfield stadium, reports, www.sportspromedia.com/.

The Premier League champions want to increase the capacity of the Anfield Road stand by around 7,000 seats, taking their iconic home's overall capacity to more than 61,000.

As part of the application to Liverpool City Council, the club are also seeking permanent permission to hold concerts and major events at Anfield.

The planning application is expected to be decided in spring 2021. If approved, it will mean the second major redevelopment for Anfield since Liverpool were acquired by John Henry's Fenway Sports Group in October 2020.
