Liverpool ‘favourites to sign’ £130m Bellingham as ‘family preference’ dampens Real Madrid’s hopes | OneFootball

According to reports in Germany, Liverpool are now the ‘favourites to sign’ Jude Bellingham from Borussia Dortmund next summer ahead of Real Madrid.

It surely can’t just be me who is desperate for Bellingham’s future to be resolved pretty soon.

The midfielder is currently dominating the transfer columns and that will continue in the next few months until we get some confirmation of his next move.

His performances for Borussia Dortmund this season and at the World Cup for England are only driving his price up, with it now suggested that he could cost as much as £130m next summer.

Liverpool have been linked with him in recent years and they are keen to build their midfield around him.

The Reds are in need to sign at least one new midfielder next year as their current crop of players in the middle of the pitch are ageing.

They would love Bellingham to be one of their additions but they face competition from the likes of Real Madrid and Man City.

Madrid’s stance on Bellingham has been up for debate of late, with Spanish outlet Marca suggesting that they are unwilling to pay £130m for him.

£130m is a lot of money to invest in Bellingham, but given that he is still a teenager, clubs could potentially get over ten years of great work out of him.

Recent indications suggest that Liverpool are willing to pay whatever it takes to sign Bellingham and Bild’s Christian Falk revealed on Wednesday morning that they are ‘favourites to sign him’.

He claims that talks between Liverpool and Bellingham are ‘more advanced than with Real Madrid’.

It is also suggested that Bellingham’s family would ‘prefer’ him to join Liverpool over the Spanish giants.

This comes after England assistant boss Steve Holland suggested that Bellingham should move to the Premier League.

”He’s unique,” Holland told the Guardian. ”We’ve talked about Messi and those special techniques. What makes the top, top ones is the mentality, the ambition every day to push and be competitive.

There were a few at Chelsea I felt were always there in training. Players that weren’t super-gifted physically or super-gifted technically, but the mental aspect of it took them to a different level of performance. Jude has those mental attributes.”

Holland added: ”[The Bundesliga] is a good league to develop in. It’s probably not quite as challenging every week as the Premier League.

“He gets a fair share of games where he is comfortable and enjoying playing on the ball and not always on the limit, which for a young player is a good way to develop.

“His impact in this tournament, for a player of his age, is already hugely unusual.”
