I work for a huge company with employees all over Britain, so I thought I’d ask a few to put their thoughts about Newcastle United into words and share them with you.

Seeing Newcastle United through the eyes of others.

We have already had Manchester City and Chelsea. Now it’s the turn of Liverpool fans.

First up is a 65-year-old Liverpool fan, now living in Cheltenham

You might not like this but I see Newcastle as a great club… but from a different era.

They are always trying to recreate their history.

The likes of Liverpool, Man Utd, Arsenal, Man City and Chelsea have really kicked on over the past 40 years and left Newcastle in their wake.

I therefore see Newcastle as an Everton or Wolves. Clubs with a great history alongside the great old names of others, such as Blackburn, Forest and dare I say it, Sunderland!!

Newcastle United will not be a big club until they start winning some of the major trophies, or at least start to regularly achieve a top four position.

Playing well and getting good results against the top sides is not enough. The support and passion is almost bigger than the club itself and the club needs to deliver on the big stage to reward this tremendous support.

At Liverpool, I expect us to win every game and win every trophy. I am disappointed when we don’t. To be a big club that has to be the expectation of the club and supporters.

Other things that come to mind are that we always love playing Newcastle and it’s always a cracking game. Atmosphere, excitement, and the unexpected, are all in abundance!

The future looks much better than the past. Getting rid of the unpopular Mike Ashley and mid-ranking managers such as Steve Bruce is a major step forward.

In Eddie Howe you have a top English manager. I hope you stick with him! He will definitely be in the mix for the England job but I think it’s too early for him. He would do well to stay at Newcastle.

Next is a 30 year old Liverpool fan over in Northern Ireland

What did you make of Mike Ashley’s time in charge of Newcastle and what did you think of the way Newcastle fans hated him?

Having had Roy Hodgson ‘manage’ our team in a bad period for the club, I can well understand frustration from NUFC fans. I felt like the fans handled their frustrations better than the incredibly entitled and arrogant MUFC fans.

How well did you think Steve Bruce did as manager of the club? Were the new owners right to sack him when they arrived?

In my opinion, he was one of those ‘keep you out of relegation’ type managers, that was only there because of experience. Much like Hodgson at Liverpool, where it felt like we gave up a bit.

Who in the Newcastle team would get into yours?

As you know, we have benefited greatly from investing in players from Newcastle United in the past. Even now, we are looking at bringing in Anthony Gordon. Compliments to your player recruiters.

What would be the price to buy Bruno, Anthony Gordon, Joelinton or Isak?

Given the market is absolutely arbitrary as far as valuations go, I’d have to guess minimum 60 million plus

Did you think of Newcastle as a ‘big club’ before the takeover?

Even before I started following Liverpool, I knew Newcastle United was a heavyweight. They are one of only a handful of our clubs I would have supported if I didn’t land on Liverpool.

I guess I have a soft spot for underdogs. The way they came back from relegation and their more current form and success, in my eyes puts them above other teams.

Are Newcastle a ‘big club’ now? Or will that only be the case when they start winning things?

Again, my perspective, I can only relate to Liverpool. If Newcastle can build their brand again, then yes. Comes down to the vision of the owners, they must invest long-term if they are to go to the next level.

If not, other clubs will just lure away your talent.

Would you be happy for Newcastle to win a trophy for the first time since the last ice age?

I was genuinely disappointed for Newcastle, they deserved more out of last season. To have put on that show with no silverware, hard to take for any fan.

Do Newcastle need to move out of the city to a 80k mega ground, in order to ‘develop the club’ or should they settle for a small increase on St James’ Park (up to 58k or so)?

Not to want to sound like a stuck record….but, if the owners understand the roots and history of that club, at that ground, they should invest in the city and make it happen at St James’ Park. It can be done. Depends on the owners’ business model.

How did Newcastle perform in the Champions League last season?

Without the benefit of experience, it’s tough for any club to compete in that competition. They were competitive, something to be proud of.

Recently, I’m sure it felt like the planets were finally aligning. I experienced this with Mr Rodgers.

It took serious commitment from our owners to bring in key players, backroom, and coaching, to push us over the line and it was agonising to go through.
