Arne Slot has made an impressive start as Liverpool's head coach, with his team winning all three of their Premier League matches without conceding a single goal.

Despite Liverpool only playing twice in August, Slot has earned a nomination for the Premier League's Manager of the Month award. He faces competition from Mikel Arteta, Pep Guardiola and Brighton’s new manager, Fabian Hurzeler.

Winning such an award early is no easy feat — Jürgen Klopp didn't claim it until September 2016, 11 months after his arrival at Anfield — highlighting how difficult it can be to impress the voters in England.

Slot names Liverpool greats as the best

Recently, Sky Sports has been asking current Premier League managers who they believe is the greatest in the league since its 1992 rebranding.

The most popular answers were undoubtedly Guardiola, Sir Alex Ferguson and Jose Mourinho, to name a few. However, when it was Slot’s turn, he opted to honour two of his Liverpool predecessors

"The first that comes to mind is Kenny Dalglish, and of course Jürgen Klopp," he said, revealing his understandable loyalty to his current club.

Slot’s arrival in the Premier League has been marked by a clear philosophy, emphasising fast, attacking football that mirrors Klopp’s intensity, while also focusing on player management and leadership, similar to Dalglish’s era.

It’s clear that the Dutchman views success as a holistic process, not only about tactics, but about culture and identity.

As Slot continues to establish himself in English football, his acknowledgement of these two Premier League icons offers insight into the type of manager he strives to be. Klopp and Dalglish, different as they may be, both represent a dedication to creating football legacies — and Slot seems eager to craft his own, inspired by the greatest in the game.
