Liverpool fans have been left feeling aggrieved after the Reds were twice controversially denied a second goal during Tuesday's clash against Burnley by VAR .
Jurgen Klopp's side got off to an excellent start at Turf Moor when Darwin Nunez put them ahead with a well-taken finish after just six minutes.
The Reds then went on to dominate both the possession and the chances - with Burnley keeper James Trafford making seven saves in the first half - and had the ball in the back of the net in the 27th minute when Cody Gakpo fired the ball into the roof of the net.
The goal, however, was disallowed by referee Paul Tierney who spotted a foul by Darwin Nunez in the build-up.
Nunez was adjudged to have fouled Charlie Taylor from behind but there was minimal contact and his fall was mostly caused by the defender stretching to make a clearance.
What's more, the immediate reaction of the defender when getting off the ground was to put his hands on his head, not to appeal for a penalty.
Despite this, VAR took a look at the incident and decided that a clear and obvious error hadn't been made by the on-field officials and the goal didn't stand.
As a result, the Reds went in at half time just 1-0 up, having missed a series of chances to double their advantage - most notably Mohamed Salah rattling the crossbar.
Ten minutes after the break, Liverpool were denied once more by VAR. This time, Harvey Elliott's goal was chalked off because Salah was adjudged to have blocked keeper James Trafford's line of sight from an offside position.
However, many fans on social media were quick to point out that Trafford's feet were moving in the opposite direction so wouldn't have saved the shot anyway.
Additionally, Salah was in fact pushed into that position by Clarets defender Jordan Beyer.
Liverpool will be hoping that these decisions don't come back to haunt them.
