In a recent report, Tuttomercatoweb mentioned that Liverpool are facing stiff competition for Real Madrid playmaker Marco Asensio, who has just got a year left to run in his contract. It has been claimed that the Reds along with Arsenal and Newcastle United can meet what Los Blancos are demanding for their prized asset this summer.

Asensio’s Impressive Numbers In The Spanish Capital

Asensio enjoyed a decent campaign at the Santiago Bernabeu Stadium after he managed to put in some eye-catching performances despite receiving limited game over the past 11 months. The Spanish attacker made 42 appearances for Los Blancos last season, netting 12 goals and securing two assists across all fronts.

Liverpool Face Stiff Competition For Asensio: Is He Worth The Fight?

Asensio is a decent playmaker in the opponent’s half as he has got the vision to create a few good chances for his teammates from the wide areas. The Spanish winger is usually composed in front of the opposition goal and can even complete some dangerous dribbles in the attacking end of the pitch. He mainly operates as a right-sided wide player but can even fill in as a left-winger or function as an attacking midfielder down the middle if required.

At 26, Asensio is currently entering his prime, so it is no wonder that Liverpool are showing interest in recruiting the Spaniard during this summer transfer window.

We can expect Asensio to add more goals and creativity to Jurgen Klopp‘s frontline. He could even serve as an ideal replacement for Sadio Mane, who joined Bayern Munich recently, at Anfield.

Hence, Asensio is well-worth the fight as he could help the Reds challenge across multiple competitions once again in the coming seasons. Furthermore, he has got the experience and winning mindset to play a key role in Klopp’s match-day squad over the next few years.
